About Larry:
My full name is Lawrence Demarah and I was born in 1950 in Pomona Calif.
The first memory on my life is riding in the back of a 1950 Chevy Coupe. I was just laying on the suede felt back seat and looking up at the ceiling and I loved the feel and sound of the engine and the trees going by in the windows. I don’t think I could stand up yet in the back of the car.
My father loved cars but was not good mechanically so I began working on cars when I was six or seven years old. I understood how things operated and I could also get that idea to pass through my brain to my hands and to a tool. Diagnosing has always been my favorite thing to do on a car. I am good at this and I am lucky also !!!
I learned to drive when I was 9 years old where we owned desert property in the Mojave desert and did my first street driving in Mexico City at 14 years old.
I always loved engines and cars and noise and going too fast.
I worked at a Shell station in Newport and Huntington Beach from 1965 to 1968.
By the time I was 17 I was a master tech on Volkswagen and Porsche in Newport Beach where we only worked on European cars.
I then went to college for seven years and graduated from San Diego State with a degree in Sociology.
After this I traveled….
My love affair for BMW’s began in 1970 when I lived in Goleta calif and spotted a 1600 bmw from behind and chased it down to see what it was. My next sighting was of a 1973 3.0 coupe. I was forever in love and after driving the BMW’s, I became convinced that BMW is the most beautifully driving car along with styling and safety.
My mechanical career on bmw began in Sorrento Valley where I worked exclusively on BMW from 1978 to 1989..
I then worked in Carlsbad from 1989 to 1993.
After this I managed a shop in Encinitas and also downtown San Diego from 1993 to 2004 when I opened the shop I own now about ten years ago. These are the only shops I have ever worked in…. Always around bmw.
